Planning ahead for 2008…
Romesh & Devika who are spearheading the ‘Young Adults’ (18 years upwards) are working out something for the year ahead. On the second Saturday of every month they plan to meet for 2 hours. During this time they will be having a time of devotion with song and prayer. They also plan to invite guest speakers and youth leaders to speak to the young adults.
Other activities planned for the year to do ‘something’ for the Lord include: visits to Malls during festival times and ‘street outreach’ during weekends. They also plan to organize outings for fun, bonding & team building purposes. Fundraising events will be part of the Youth programme too, and the funds raised will be spent on Outreach activities. This will also serve the purpose of teaching young adult’s accountability, discipline in money matters and the good practice of tithing (as most of them are employed). A quarterly newsletter from the ‘Youth’ is also in the offing.
Godwin & Grace are leading the ‘Sprightly Teens’ (13 yrs to 17 years). They are keen to help the teens study and understand for themselves the smaller books of the Bible. They are keen to explore and learn what these books have to say for a spiritual and healthy living, and are very keen and eager to apply it in their life. There will be outings which are not only going to be fun filled but also will give them a chance to get together.
Nahomi handles ‘The Little Bereans’ (below 10 years), and she says they are a wonderful lot, and more than a handful..! She says that they are able to read the Bible very clearly, and ask quite a lot of questions! For the last 6 months they have been going through the book of Genesis, and from February 2008, she has planned them to take through the book of Exodus Apart from the Bible lesson, the children will also do coloring and puzzles related to the lessons. Needless to say, singing will be an important part of the sessions and new songs will be introduced regularly.
The first session for the year 2008 will be held during the NZTCF monthly fellowship meeting in February.
