Please contact the committee members if you wish to express feedback about the newsletter/website or submit articles for publishing.
When submitting articles, please remember to give proper credits and cite the original sources.
The New Zealand chapter of the Association for the Protection of Intellectual Rights (Regd.) monitors our site to see if we transgress in the matter of plagiarism, which is a serious offense. As Christians, even without a body like this, we must be found faultless.
We have often shared articles casually with friends without bothering about these finer issues. Our friends know that we have only “come across” the articles and have not “written” them ourselves. But when publishing articles in a site like this or in a printed format, we must be very careful to give credits where they are due.
Let us take an extreme case to understand this matter better:
Imagine that a man as clever as Michael Farr, created a comic strip as nice as Tintin and published the comic strip on his website. Lots of people would come to his site to read the comic, and he could charge them for accessing his site. Or he could allow people to advertise on his site for a fee. Whichever way, he could become wealthy. (Sometimes, a work may not make much money, but it could create a good reputation for the author. This is also something valuable.) Now if someone took this man’s comics and put them on their site, without giving him credits, their action would actually be something akin to stealing. If they asked him for permission, it would be a different matter. (Of course, with a comic strip as commercially viable as Tintin, they probably would not be given permission.)
Some authors freely give permission to others to publish their articles provided, the article is published without change.
As a rule, ask permission wherever possible. Cite sources at all times.
A website with good original articles is something to be proud of. Let us try to make this site our own corner where we showcase our best attempts at writing.
